Long live Rhedding Farm!

The Kiwi Homesteaders were a determined bunch, save perhaps in the matter of blogging. But though we persevered in our twelve-acre North Canterbury block, things finally got too much for us.

I needn’t say a great deal about the COVID-19 panic that gripped the world in 2020 and 2021. Suffice it to say that towards the end of 2021, New Zealand authorities implemented a harsh vaccine mandate, and encouraged private businesses to extend it to their employees and customers. Hospitals and other health providers began to reduce, or outright refuse, care for the unvaccinated. Expecting a child, and with Starfish’s elderly parents facing their own challenges, we made haste to get out.

And so, as of January 2022, we’re in the United States, and starting the homesteading project afresh. Starfish’s parents are joining us on this adventure, and you’re invited to follow along.
